Bio
Welcome to my little home on Reverb Nation. I don't take myself very seriously, so I wont bore you to death with a bunch of BS. I am from Dallas Texas. I moved to Austin when I was 18 to do music full time. A few years after that I got in my car and started playing shows all over the country. I have probably crashed on your couch or slept in my car at a truck stop by your town. I now live back in Dallas, but I still play shows everywhere. I have recorded 5 cds and I am about to start working on the 6th. I am a lifer. I will be making records and playing shows when i am 64, I just hope they are good. I really can't think of anything that I would rather do than play music. I hope you enjoy the tunes, and if you do I hope to see you soon!
About
Dallas Texas based, Davis moved to Austin when he was 18 to work on his music full time. A year later he realized he couldn't sit still and watch the world pass him by. So Taylor took to the road and embarked on a 400,000 mile, 5 year Rock & Roll journey. Davis has slept on more couches than beds, and more floors than couches.<br>Davis doesn't really seem to take himself very seriously and anyone that has attended his party atmosphere shows know that! Davis said people who come to my shows have a good time, he went on to say my shows have always been a combination of spontaneous humor, fun and songs from my heart. When asked about his influences Taylor tells tails of his love for Elvis Costello, The Beatles, Weezer, Wilco, long walks on the beach, and Shark Week on the Discovery Channel.
Taylor Davis has played over 1,500 shows ranging from small bar gigs to sold out theater nights opening shows with the likes of Ian Moore, Matt Wertz, Dave Barnes, Graham Colton and others. He has had the pleasure of being invited to play in some of the coolest rooms across America including: the World Cafe Live, Evening Muse, The Living Room, the Iota, Arlene’s Grocery, The House of Blues, Gypsy Tea Room, and the famous Stubbs in Austin. In the spring of 2006 the graduating class from Germantown Wisconsin High School nominated the Taylor Davis song New York City as their own class song and even made it their prom theme. It was an honor for me to have these kids we didn’t even know not only nominate my music but actually vote it their favorite. After learning about this honor Taylor Davis accepted an invitation to perform at the Germantown Wisconsin High School Prom. Davis said, This was one of the highlights of my life. For those kids to pick me was unreal! Davis went on to say I was never comfortable in School, so for me to play the Prom was outrageous.
Now based back in Dallas, Taylor and his band are currently touring two weeks a month while working to finish their 6th record. Their first single, "Is It Ok" has already received national radio attention. Davis posted the incomplete track for fun on MySpace so his fans could check out what he’s been up to. Not knowing nationally syndicated radio host Kidd Kraddick would play it on his show during his popular music that Makes You Cooler segment. Kraddick went on to tell people about Taylor Davis and told his listeners to keep an eye out for him. Davis said it was unreal, I’ve been a fan of his show for a very long time, What an honor to have the guy who entertained my family and I for years play my song and tell my story, totally unwarranted! Thankful to Kraddick for exposing his radio audience to his music Davis turned on his computer to send Kraddick a note of thanks. His e-mail was full of fan mail which has driven Davis and his band to complete their 6th record due out this fall. With thousands of paid downloads from Taylor Davis past projects Davis has become a self proclaimed lifer, and hopes to be recording and playing shows with his band when he is 64.
