Taamara is a a new age electro –acoustic outfit from Mumbai featuring Shridevi Keshavan and Aditya Anand.

Their first release happened on the internationally acclaimed album titled Swaraaj. The duo got together to explore a sound that was drawn from juxtaposing styles; freestyle that spilled over to a virginal space. The disconnected and discordant vibrations struck a chord when the two met. For Shri, music had been personal and while she thought the ideas in her head would never really see the light of the day, aditya came along. The musical chemistry was obvious and all that they needed was a platform.

Just like the first few off-beat notes of a tanpura being tuned and just like the mutant ‘sur’ (a futuristic drone that emerged as a pattern while composing) drifting through the silences of unfinished business, Taamara’s music flourished with the progress of Chill Om Records.

Spinning the beauty of traditional Indian music, attaching and detaching itself from the strains of the electro-acoustic spirals, Taamara’s music drums up a mish-mash of various genres. The constant state of dissolution marks a distinct style; where the classical and the western music bits dissolve into a realm of musical rapture. The different paths running through the music never seem to meet; they never seem to really meet; just beginnings and ends- attachment and detachment in circles.

There were no concrete plans when they met but the exploratory jam-sessions snow-balled into bigger things. With varied influences from both the artistes, the music initially sounded strange but interesting; the exploration seemed to be seamless. Nothing really gave them as much pleasure as weaving in the musical moments.
