About

Sue Pascoe-Johnson has been singing Jazz ever since her father introduced her to the music of Louis Armstrong when she was 4. Though trained as an Architect, she has always performed and sung where ever she has lived including Hong Kong, Singapore, London, New York, Sydney, Brisbane, and MelbourneSue moved to the Mornington Peninsula with her husband who runs Moonlit Sanctuary, a wildlife park in Pearcedale, check it out www.moonlit-sanctuary.com.

Sue plays her brand of smooth jazz, latin, swing, blues and some soul.  Not afraid to admit she is a great lover of the ballad, She pours a lifetime of experience into her interpretation of the lyrics, but before you label her as a torch song singer, she'll belt out a blues with all the ‘sass' of Bessie Smith. You can hear the influences of Ella Fitzgerald, Betty Carter and Carmen McCrae in her singing.

She has never stopped learning and improving her musicianship and is currently a mature student in her third year at Monash University Conservatorium of Music.  She has studied with Alison Wedding, Julie O'Hara, Emma Gilmartin, Michelle Nicole and Kate Ceberano.

In late 2006/2007 she has begun performing more regularily with Leon Heale on Double Bass and Chris Sommervelle on piano. If you are lucky enough to have caught one of their gigs on the peninsula at Frankston Twighlight Market, the Blue Mini Cafe Rosebud or weddings and functions at Marinda Park Vineyard, you would have experienced the sparks flying as they have such fun together it's contagious for anyone listening.

Sue has begun teaching singing at home in Hastings in 2007. "my teachers have been so patient and nuturing with me and I want to do the same with my students. I think building self-confidence is really the key." She is really excited about sharing everything she's learnt with her students.
