  Grupo Fantasma w/ El Tule & StrawberryJAM GRUPO FANTASMA Grupo Fantasma has been praised as one of the most important independent acts in the Latin genre and has continually defied expectations to create one of the most unique musical voices to come out of the United States in the last decade. The music is about history, art and culture often focusing on legends and tales of the mystical. Fan favorites include "Tres Viudas", the true story of three dancing widows in beautiful San Antonio, "La Ruta Maya", a pounding tribute to the famed Mayan Route and "Mi Niño", reminescent of a colorful childhood life on the border. The lineup grew from there, bringing together musicians from the Texas A&M campus. "When we first started out, there was no practice, no set-list, and no membership. Whoever wanted to get on stage just jumped on, sometimes 13 people at one time, and the jam would go for hours." The free-form performances taught the group how to improvise together and they continued to gain local popularity for high-energy, unpredictable performances.
