“Who knew that Hialeah, FL could produce such tasty ska tunes? Homegrown four-piece band Stop the Presses show big SoFla pride on Eskandalo, their skank-alicious new 7-song EP that was recorded and pressed in their hometown. While lead singer Ali Culotta’s vocals take you back to the days of old school No Doubt, the fat bass lines and mini-improv sessions turn this record into a ska-meets-jam fusion that’s prime for a live show. Songs like Daddy Issues Vol II / Bird or Plane see the Presses take the basic ska song formula and expand it into a head-bopping, jammy good time. Pop-punk fans will take a liking to quasi-ballad New Years where guitarist Danny Portilla switches it up and takes lead vocals. Although they love scurrying all over South Florida, these touring machines have hit everywhere from Atlanta to Austin in their trusty band RV and it’s the polished tunes and energetic live show that make that possible.”
“multi-instrumentalist and singer Ali Culotta of Stop the Presses. Humbert will have a mere twenty minutes to play the Grand Central stage on Friday, and so the five of them were meeting to decide which songs to play in that limited amount of time. This is Culotta's first time singing and playing accordion with Humbert. Besares said they at least knew they wanted Ali to join them onstage, "That's why 'Tradition' was for sure, 'cause it would spotlight that voice." Landa added that, "We thought I Don't Know, the old band, would be a better fit to play with Dead Milkmen, but that didn't work out, so we ended up playing an old song where (Ali) replaces Mark, our old singer."”
"A newer band that's keeping the South Florida ska train rolling through this millennium, Stop the Presses is fun, energetic, fronted by the charismatic Ali Culotta..."
“Stop the Presses is a band that merged from the very deep of Miami’s music scene. Since 2010, this Hialeah group formed by Ali Culotta, Danny Portilla, Gus Rojo and Keko Kubat, had been spreading ska, funk and big band melodies all around Miami’s underground stages. With a Violent Femmes meets No doubt vibe their music can captivate any 90’s ska nostalgic – they even have their own fan club!-”
“I’ve caught Stop The Presses in the past, twice in fact. once was with boxwood at another venue near Grand Central. The guys in STP aren’t just your local punk ska/surfer band, they are also your friends! One of my favorite things about watching STP is watching the interaction between band mates. When they go on stage, what ever may go on behind closed doors instantly vanishes. They genuinely vibe, and watching them jump around allows the fans to see how much they love to perform and want everyone to be involved and to have fun. Front woman Ali Culotta instantly brings to mind vintage No Doubt, albeit with an edge attached. STP is a must see band. And c’mon, watching people skank and two-step is just classic. All in all, a great concert with some great up and coming bands. -Juan Hernandez”
"...Stop the Presses is looking to spread its RV's wings all the way to California in support of its glowing EP, Eskalando. But before hitting the road, the gang couldn't be more excited to open up for the Slackers. It just might be the most romantic Valentine's Day ska gig of all time. Before Stop the Presses takes off for the great unknown, we talked to guitarist Danny Portilla and lead vocalist and keyboard player Ali Culotta to check in about their local recording process, why they tour so big, and how you can help them celebrate it all on Valentine's Day."
“Stop the Presses' Ali Culotta Would Like Male Bikini Contest Added to Propaganda's Summer Daze Concert Series. "So, in preparation of Summer Daze Day 1 kicking off this Sunday, we chatted with Ali Culotta, lead singer of Miami ska band Stop the Presses, about snagging a spot in this insane lineup, coming back down to Earth after just ending another statewide tour, and how she really feels about all those Gwen Stefani comparisons."”

“Stop The Presses @ Sunfest 2012; The Experience In Their Own Words; Catch Them Live At Dada In Delray Tonight! "Stop the Presses performed at Sunfest 2012 on Saturday May 5th. The Hialeah-based band was on right before The Mighty Mighty Bosstones on the FPL Stage. Not every band gets to open for one of their heroes, so this was a very special show to the members of Stop The Presses. “”Presses” guitarist/vocalist Danny Portilla shared his experience with us"”
“....One of those bands was Stop The Presses, who really wowed us (the smashed judges) by being both very professional (some band took about 45 mins to set up/soundcheck, it was fucking torture) and very talented. Their bright, ska/pop instantly snapped everyone at Churchill’s into a fun, bouncy vibe, making them forget it was like 2AM on a Sunday. Soon after that night I caught up with them at The Annex in Hialeah to find out a little bit more about them. We talked about bachata, fun, reggaeton, Cher, horn choreography, throwing up, and fun. Did I mention we spoke about fun?”
