Q: What made you form the Saint James Band?

A: Well I came to the point where I didn’t want to be at the mercy of a singer so I thought I’d form my own band and force myself to sing. I used to play a lot of blues, and worked with the late Robert Lucas . He was the singer for Canned Heat, the second singer. He called me Erey James so in the southern Californian blues scene I was Erey James! Then at some point I started reading books about the saints, Saint Germaine and this other stuff and that’s how the Saint James Band came about.
