He and She
(Two Old Folksingers)

Two old folksingers took the stage.
As they began to play their
almost forgotten songs, the
audience began to sing along
Slowly remembering a dim past.

He smiled as he sang with obvious joy.
Not all the notes fell cleanly
into place as they once did, but
the words still said what he had to say.
And his smile said he knew that they did.

She watched him with heartfelt concern
She loved him but even more she
loved the way he loved his music;
and ho-ow alive he was that night
As he wowed the crowd one more time.

Her concern went unnoticed
By all of those for whom they sang
Though she tried to hide it
She worried this would be his last
One more time

Two old folksingers took the stage.
As they began to play their
almost forgotten songs, the
audience began to sing along
And was honoured just to know them.
He for his music and She for her love.
