Bio
The Steve and Lindley Band is a rock/jazzy/indie group based out of Boston, MA. Lindley Cameron, a vocalist from Dallas, TX, travels when shows arise, and as a result the band performs only a limited number of dates a year. The two released their first EP, "Fairytale Thankyou", in May 2008. Currently, Steve and Lindley are touring with a smaller band and are working on their first LP. Concepts are more concrete and the dynamics are more subtle, although twisting and shouting about are completely acceptable from time to time.
About
STEVE PARDO is a saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, producer, engineer, and teacher, currently residing in Boston, MA with his wife, Amy. His career so far has spanned many different musical avenues, while still first considering himself a performing jazz musician.
His alt./folk/pop project with vocalist sister-in-law Lindley Cameron, "Fairytale Thankyou", began as the core concept of Steve's graduate thesis at the University of Miami and turned into a full fledged musical endeavor. After releasing their first EP, the two put a massive band together to perform the EP live in Miami in May 2008. Steve and Lindley are now working on releasing a full-length LP for release in early 2009.
During his tenure at the University of Miami (receiving both his Bachelor's in "Studio Music and Jazz" and Master's in "Studio Jazz Writing"), Steve developed a personal style that creeps into whatever he gets his hands into. He worked and collaborated with many jazz and folk/rock groups (including Amy Pardo Quartet, Honeymoon to Earth, Tazer Room, Stefanie Smith Band, Raffa and Rainer Band, the South Nine Ensemble, Jesse Jackson, Peter J. Yanowitch, and others) and has been featured on a number of independently released albums now available and soon to be released.
Outside of performing, Steve is employed as a composer/sound designer for Harmonix Music Systems, the video game company behind the popular "Rock Band" franchise. He has been commissioned to write and arrange for jazz combos, string quartets, and middle/high school big bands. He has worked with Miami-based composer/attorney Peter J. Yanowitch on composing and arranging for three CD's, with another on the way. He was also asked to write string and horn parts for the well known singer-songwriter Jesse Jackson's upcoming CD, and has compositions and arrangements featured on both of the South Nine Ensemble's releases.
He has been involved in mixing and/or recording a number of released CD's, including his own "Fairytale Thankyou" EP, Joe Rehmer's "Tazer Room", the South Nine Ensemble's to be released 2nd LP, and Stefanie Smith's "Ovenbird EP".
Steve has had the pleasure to perform or record with Jim Black, Ron Horton, John Hollenbeck, Arturo Sandoval, Roy Hargrove, Slide Hampton, Mark Colby, John Fedchock, Ed Calle, Marcus Roberts, Jason Marsalis, Sam Barsh, Jim Gasior, Wendy Pedersen, and Alex Norris. He has studied saxophone with Gary Keller, Mark Colby, Kari “Sonny” Heinela, and composition with Ron Miller, Gary Lindsay, and Lansing McLoskey. Steve’s music and playing has been heard on Miami’s WDNA as well as various other FM radio stations across with US and Canada with the South Nine Ensemble, singer/songwriter Jesse Jackson, and the UM Concert Jazz Band.
