stephaniesĭd is indie pop revelry! we love to play for curious, alive people. to sing. to play our guitars and keyboards and vibraphone and horns. we live in the gorgeous mountains of asheville, nc and our music reflects the bigness, absurdness, and sometimes-triumph of everyday. our new album releases spring '09... "warm people"!

stephaniesĭd is made up of romantically-linked Stephanie Morgan and Chuck Lichtenberger, and a small-to-large host of others. We always play with heart and lust and gusto, because there's no point in doing anything else. We care about things in the world. We often brood about them. But not for terribly long or for too many songs, as there is no long-term gain in taking the human condition too seriously. The music, like life itself, is striving, searching, inconclusive, and (hopefully) beautiful.
We have chosen to live in the best city... Asheville, NC, in the mountains. And they've voted us "best indie band" here, 2 years in a row! People who live elsewhere and read about us are apt to think we've got banjos on our knees. Though Steph wishes she knew how to play a banjo, we are happy that people are slowly beginning to look around obvious identifiers.
We used to have a lot of other stuff about the history of the band up here on this page. But it's boring to read. Suffice to say we've been around for about 5 years, we like to tour, and people in increasing numbers are coming to hear us play.
We have 3 CD's out, and will soon release our 4th ("Warm People", spring 2009). We'd love it if you bought all of them, and our T-shirts and buttons and whatnot. Best to get them at live shows (because c'mon, it's best...), but they are also available from our MySpace page, at many US indie record stores, on iTunes and other download sites, and on the Nine Mile Records Website.
