“I definitely hear country rock, classic rock fused into grunge, modern heavy metal, and this music is ultra special! Awesome work! ”
“OLD SCHOOL KICK BACK WITH OBSIDIAN With influences like Aerosmith, Shinedown, Hinder, Alice in Chains and Guns N' Roses, the mix of old school and new school throws you back to the summer of 1995, letting a cold one melt away your troubles. They will be touring the midwest, so check out their tour dates and put away your Aerosmith album for the evening, and check out Obsidian before these guys blow up and you are sleeping a week out in front of the venue for tickets . But be on the look out these guys might be changing their name soon to Obsidian Tribe due to copyright discrepancies.”
“Metal Pick of the Week: Obsidian Saturday was another night out at a show at Juanita's here in Little Rock. The line-up was pretty strong with Dark From Day One, The Vail, Obsidian, and Evacuate The City. I was pretty familiar with the local bands, but knew nothing about Obsidian...and was, again, pleasantly surprised! Obsidian is from Kansas City, MO and are a tight rock band...yes...ROCK band. Not too many of those around these days. They have a sound that is kind of a cross between, Aerosmith, The Black Crowes, maybe Guns N Roses. Their set list included mostly original songs, but also a cover here and there. They did "Back In The Saddle Again" and did it justice. The lead singer has a definite Chris Robinson (lead singer for The Black Crowes) look and stage presence about him. And a bit of a Axel Rose swagger on stage. If you get the chance to catch these guys, give them a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Horns to the Sky!”
“Living in the community that I do, I spend most of my time driving to Kansas City to see live performances, so when it ended up that the first time I saw Obsidian ended up being at Rocklahoma, it was like a kick in the groin. How could I have missed seeing them in Kansas City!! Regardless to say I was quite impressed by their performances, yes that's with an "s" as I made sure I got to see all of their sets. The sets were energetic, the music was fantastic, and the crowd was plentiful. Mind you their sets were after the main stage had closed and the peoples were still flocking to see Obsidian!!! Recently the band went through a personnel change, for whatever reason, and soon they will be able to show what a revitalized band is capable of doing. Do yourself a favor and go check them out, I recommend everything but particularly the tracks, Feeding Frenzy, Fake, and I personally love Serenity. Those that love kick ass music need head to KC KS on Mar 8 to see Obsidian live! I know I will!”
“After midnight, the true magic of Rocklahoma became evident. Where else can you catch a campground set at 3 AM and see an unknown band like Obsidian blow you away? Rocklahoma 2012 took place over Memorial Day weekend May 25-27 in Pryor, Oklahoma. Thousands of people made the most of the experience by camping out on the grounds, just outside the concert area.”
“We hope you support the talented artists that participated in this project. By donating their time and talent these musicians have made a conscious choice to make a difference in their hometowns, and across America. Without their hard work and good music we could not spread our life saving message. TO NEVER DRIVE DRUNK”
“Obsidian has joined forces with Esente Music Group to help raise drunk driving prevention awareness across the country with FREE music. The Missouri Rockers Drunk Driving Prevention Digital CD is more than great music, it is an instrument of change! For the first time in history free music is being used as a vehicle to spread drunk driving prevention awareness. Did you know the number one killer of music fans in this country is drunk driving? What better way to present our life saving message than through music? When music fans download the FREE music they will view drunk driving prevention posters and advertisements designed by our high school and collage age artists from across the nation. What better way to remind people to never drive drunk. Enjoy the music we selected from sixteen top Missouri artists - including Obsidian's "Serenity" from their Dreamcatcher album.”
"Obsidian took the stage and honestly, from the word go, they owned it. They without a doubt showed why they won Artist of the Year. When they started their set, they had that crowd pumped and totally in a rock trance that took away all the surprise and questions that we had. There was not a single inch on that stage that they did not use. The duet they did with Caitlin Kinman formerly of An Endless Chapter was totally astounding and amazing. One person even asked a staff member if they were lip-syncing because of how tight and solid their performance was (I can assure you they weren’t, we did not even have a player hooked up). Over the past year Obsidian has made more strides than 95% of the artists in this area. If you have not seen an Obsidian show lately, give them another chance, you will not be disappointed at all."

"The staff at Project Backstage has confirmed that Kansas City rock artist, Obsidian, has been added to the Thursday night Main Stage at Rocklahoma 2011...for the official pre-party that takes place every year on the grounds."
"Obsidian is nominated in the Project Backstage 2011 Midwest Rock Awards in 3 categories including Bassist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Artist of the Year."
