“Stackabones has been serving up stoney, cosmic jams for over two decades now, first in Austin, Tx, and more recently in the home of all things stoney and cosmic (the home, also, of this critic) in Santa Cruz, Ca. They have long found fans in that subset of Deadheads that prefer simple, sincere songwriting to pyrotechnical guitar solos. Of late that has increasingly included all manner of folks who admire the ethos and the esthetics that transformed a trippy little bluegrass band from the Height into a permanently traveling gypsy caravan but can't bring themselves to enjoy the hard-rock and hip-hop inflected sounds of Phish et al and will never feel truly at home in the sea of cowboy hats at Roots / Americana festivals. This Saturday night, Stackabones will be playing The Branded Saloon in Brooklyn. Stackabones plays Americana bar-room boogie filled with many original songs, and some tasteful cover tunes here and there. Formed in Austin Texas, Stackabones plays original jam roots Americana, delivering quality songs wrapped in exploratory improvisation and psychedelia. Stackabones goes on just after 11pm, and will be playing until they kick us out. We LOVE playing in New York and would love to see a bunch of our New York friends come out for the evening, so head to Branded Saloon and bring some friends! The Branded Saloon is at 603 Vanderbilt Ave. in Brooklyn.
