BAND HISTORY
Formed in the summer of 2003, Splinter's lineup was completed in January of 2004 with the addition of Troy Little on vocals. It would be hard to say that a band from the Dallas/Fort Worth area was not influenced somewhat by Pantera, and Splinter is no different. The musical influences of the band are far reaching into the history of metal however. From Sabbath to Alice in Chains, to Metallica and Godsmack, Splinter combines the drive and energy of their influences to harvest their creative minds.
In April 2005, Splinter released a five song EP titled “End of Days”. They have since embarked on a feverish pace to get their music out to the crowds and be heard, playing in venues across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Louisiana. Plans to release a new LP entitled, “Unleash the Power”, in the Summer of 2006 was put on hold with the replacement of vocalist Troy Little with new vocalist Mike “Mikey” Smith. Mike brought a new vocal range and energy to the already powerful line up. With talks already in progress with Sanction Records, the addition of Mikey sealed the deal and Splinter was off and running. Splinters 1st full-length album entitled “New Southern Reality” was released May 26, 2007.
In 2008 saw the unexpected departure of their drummer and later the departure of their bassist. With a short list of good drummers to choose from Lies Between drummer Dan Crawford was added to pound the skins. With no bass players calling, Mikey stepped in to perform dual duty as singer and bassist. With Splinters music becoming more powerful and complex the search for a bassist was a must. A number of bassist were auditioned by nothing impressed Splinter, but little did they know that a bassist was among their own friends. Enter Ladd Hodgins, former Determination bassist and friend of Mikey who himself was the frontman for Determination before singing for Splinter.
SPLINTER is currently working on a new album currently titled "I Bleed The Sun" to be released summer of 2009.
