More About The Artist
Personally speaking, Spinefish is an invented safeword for BDSM relationships and it doesn’t have any specific meaning. It is supposed to be uttered when participants run to extremes and any of them desires to stop. Thus, Spinefish stands for the pinnacle of some extravagant and kinky but, at the same time, beautiful passionate action. Moreover, the idea was to pick up a word that would suit almost any kind of unusual music. And as far as versatility and innovation has been the main course set by the band, Spinefish was obviously the word.
Spinefish is conducted by its mastermind Yury Pravikov, also known under the stage name Moonling Io. Preceeded by a number of less popular projects Spinefish was finally formed in 2002. For some time it was a single-member band but the necessity of creative collaboration led to engagement of additional musicians, some of whom eventually became band’s permanent members.
Spinefish’s style is a subject of constant change, and in course of its evolvement the musicians have been experimenting with quite unrelated genres: from trip-hop, indie, gothic, idm to black and avantgarde metal, folk and ambient. But in spite of this stylistic fluidity, every record of the band retains a distinctive Spinefish feeling.
During the years of musical activity Moonling Io and his Spinefishers have grown quite experienced and sophisticated in making music and performing it on stage. Extravagant, passionate music… And obviously beautiful.
