About
San Diego indie rockers Spell Toronto have been making waves in their hometown and abroad for a few years now. Rising out of the ashes of a once burgeoning early nineties local scene, this four piece garnered influence from many of their homesteads greatest acts. While harvesting a sound bent on everything from heroin tinged rock to folk, punk, and raw indie bliss, Spell Toronto took to the drawing board in 2002 to forge a sound all their own. Since its conception, the band has intrinsically been focused on writing songs that defy genre and the all too pathetic musical flavors of the week. In an age where the majority of the public gauges talent by easily digestible singles and over saturated image content, Spell Toronto is simply producing worthy albums and playing intense and earnest live sets. Hard at work on their latest effort, "Be More Careful", the foursome is busy kindling up their own brand of audio splendor complete with urgency and integrity. With an EP (self titled) and a full length album (The Brown Frequency) already crafted, as well as numerous San Diego Music Award nominations, a national stint on the Vans Warped Tour, and a soon to be released second full length under their belts, Spell Toronto is poised for greatness.
"It was as if the band had crafted that hook that even the most discriminating journalist had to taste. The Brown Frequency silenced the critics and made an entire San Diego music scene bear witness to a lazy-eyed rock band whose might is realized through the power of their muscle. Highly acclaimed and regarded as a crowning achievement, The Brown Frequency was an apex that was reached in Spell Toronto's career even before it left the ground."
-SD Music Matters Magazine-
"The band's sound is crisp and sharp. They play with an intensity and seriousness that belies their self-styled image as fucked-up rockers."
-San Diego City Beat Magazine-
"Their illuminating songs stream forth expansive sounds that convey a pronounced musical talent. The band exhibits tremendous ability with effortlessness. On the bands independent releases they master a foundation that will no doubt elevate them into becoming a well known and respected band."
