SOULS came into existence in the summer of 2003, after the coming together of ex-members of west country based Spin and Submatrix.
The band features:
Dean Bryant Vocals/Guitar Ben Noble Guitar Jamie Noble Drums J.H. Bass
The band is currently based in the Bristol/Bath area and are gathering a following based on the intensity of the music and the conviction of live performances. In October 2003 they made their first recordings. Holing themselves up for a few days at M.D.M.A. Studios in Bath, SOULS got three tracks recorded. The demo received a positive response and they have been able to build up a gigging schedule off the back of it.
In January 2004 their first gig as SOULS was played at the Wunder Bar (Midsomer Norton). Over the course of the past year they have become unified as a band, capitalising on the energy, drive and love of music of the band as a whole. This has led to the writing of a plethora of new material, some of which was recorded in the winter of 2004. The band have often been described as brooding, atmospheric and many have drawn comparisons with the likes of Cave In, Muse and Crashland.
| | Building on a positive reaction to their first album, SOULS have been inspired by sonic soundscapes for their second album, 'Simple Terms and Conditions'.
Frustrated by general apathy and complacency, they've honed their ideas into eleven, dark, brooding tracks of alternative rock accompanied by intense vocals.
Recorded by Rik Dowding (Portishead live sound engineer) at State of Art Studio, Easton, Bristol, this album is an amalgamation of varied influences: everything from Queens of the Stone Age, Serafin and Cave-In to Nirvana, Cooper Temple Clause and Killing Joke.
During the four years they have been together, they have toured with Alamos, Six By Seven and The Scare and have shared the stage with The Editors; they've played Itchycoo Festival (Headliners- Blue Aeroplanes); and had radio spot plays on Radio Xfm, BBC Radio Bristol, and other online radio stations.
