About

Soul Provider
Combining the talents of two of Los Angeles's most innovative and groundbreaking artists, Funk and soul keyboardist and vocalist Jonathan King, and premier international club DJ David Hopper, Soul Provider is the most innovative live act to hit the electronic music scene. With a completely original sound that ranges from house music and jazzy deep house to rock and high energy breaks, Soul Provider is breaking boundaries and defining a new way to see live music.
Performing live on stage with Jonathan on keys and vocals and Hopper on drums, bass, turntables and vocals, Soul Provider takes crowds and dance floors an a musical odyssey traveling through different textures and grooves seamlessly, making it hard to believe you're hearing only two musicians. Using clever techniques of layering and looping live sections of grooves, live vocals and improvisation, Soul Provider makes crowds crazy by taking then higher and higher with original music that borderlines the intensity most people only associate with a major concert experience.
Soul Provider is in post production stages of the first full length album, self titled Soul Provider.

David Hopper

David Hopper is a pioneering DJ and artist who has established a reputation for serving up a potent blend of house and techno for over fourteen years. Besides maintaining a full DJing schedule at clubs, raves, special events, webcasts and radio stations, he regularly appears as a guest music reviewer for electronic music culture magazines.  Hopper has been producing original electronic music for the past ten years as a solo artist and signed his first recording deal with Blacc Label Records in 1998. In 2000 he set up an independent record label with some associates called Overeasy Records and began collaborating with long time friend and fellow DJ/producer Dave Panek under the “D&D Project” moniker. Gaining immediate success with their first release, entitled the “Sunday EP” and their second release “The Drums EP,” both on Overeasy, the D&D Project has gone on to produce over forty five mind-blowing tracks.  In 2002, Hopper began showing his true versatility by producing what has been described as funky, chunky, jazzy house under the alias “Catfish Boogie Nelson.” Hopper also began producing gritty techno that was instantly picked-up and placed on heavy rotation with Planet Dance and The Vortex on the Sirius Satellite Radio network and also featured on the Discovery Channel.  His original track “Bones” earned him a top 100 track of 2003 on both Sirius Satellite and Grooveradio.  Furthermore, in 2003, Hopper received an honorable mention in BPM Magazine's “Who is America's Favorite DJ?” and spent the month of August ‘03 on tour in Europe with MTV and was the featured DJ on MTV's “The Grind”. Moving forward, in 2004 he began to branch out and started producing original tracks with other artists under different alias's. Small projects like “Hollywood Highrollers” and “Brothers of Soul”  were born out of these collaberations. In the Spring of 2004 he was delighted to be given his own radio show called “Revolutions” on 87.9 FM Streets Radio out of Los Angeles while still devoting much of his time in the studio.     Much of 2005 and 2006 was spent with fellow producer Jonathan King setting up a new label called Bounce Royal and starting a new live band called Soul Provider and still finding enough time to do a few film scores.  Always on the cutting edge, Hopper has spun alongside many of electronic music's greatest artists, such as Paul Oakenfold, The Crystal Method, Christopher Lawrence, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Rap, George Acosta, Judge Jules, Robbie Rivera, and Frankie Bones just to name a few.

Jonathan King

Jonathan King brings over twenty years of experience in the live and recorded music industry. Performing in clubs and theaters from Orange County CA. to Tokyo Japan, Jonathan King has performed over 2,300 individual concerts, parties, and shows over the past twenty years. Starting at the age of five with the classical study of piano, Jonathan recognized early that his love for music would also signify his his calling to serve the public by fueling parties all over with his special brand of energetic music.
Influenced by the high energy funk artists of his youth, Jonathan formed his first band at the age of fourteen. While learning from the top producers in the industry, such as the legendary producer Leon Sylvers, (of " The Sylvers" and Shalimar" fame) and the Dust Brothers, (producers of  "Tone Loc" , "The Beastie Boys", "Young MC" and "Beck"), Jonathan developed an ear for what makes people dance.
Jonathan spent the early nineties writing and recording with the original vocal trio "King Size", while polishing his skills in the southern california clubs singing and playing "Old school funk". This period proved to be a key element in his growth as an artist. During that pivotal period Jonathan was also fortunate to be called upon by one of the top production teams in the industry (The Dust Brothers) to add his specific and unique sound to one of their most successful projects; (Beck "Where it's At").
In the summer of 2004, Jonathan began a collaberation with LA area house producer David Hopper, immediately striking a common vision as musical artists. Working together on various projects such as "Brothers of Soul" , "Soul Provider" and various house music projects lad to the inevitable formation of the production duo presented to you now as metro local. Bringing all his years of production in the hip-hop and R&B dance fields to combine with the talents of David Hopper in the styles of House, Club, and Breaks, Jonathan provides half of the chemistry it takes to create new, innovative sounds that continue to be true to the street, intelligent, and original.
