First, we are everyday people with basic educations, bills, families, and responsibilities. We had a dream to put on our ideal festival so we are doing just that. We don’t have a lot of money and we know you don’t either. We wanted to put together a lineup that boasts variety and spirit without charging too much. We truly feel that with the cooperation of our artists, employees, vendors, patrons and communities, we can collectively put on the best small scale festival on the grid. Many small festivals stick to a particular genre but putting together an eclectic lineup full of unique artists is a priority for Fly Free Fest. It is very important to us to provide a well rounded music experience without the downsides of being a giant festival: lack of intimacy, long lines, undesirable camping spots, and overlapping of your favorite artists. Artists come in all shapes, sizes, and colors from different backgrounds, experiences, and skill levels. We know that some of you are talented painters, dancers, musicians, poets, etc. We also know that many of you feel like you lack creativity or that your two cents isn’t worth the art world’s attention. We are here to bridge that gap and get everyone thinking in a different light. Our minds are the true endless frontier and we believe that being a thought provoking human is an art in itself. That being said, it is really important that people embrace their minds and the ideas they have to offer. We want to inspire self awareness and self worth. Too many folks slip between the cracks of society and get lost in the emptiness that can come with having such boundless brains. It’s truly amazing how life altering a good conversation can be. We believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt. We are shaped by our life experiences and no two people share the same perspective all the time. We believe in high fives and giving compliments when they are merited…especially on crazy outfits. The beauty in being a small festival is that everyone feels like they’re in on a secret. We like it that way and plan on keeping Fly Free Fest on the smaller scale. Being small makes the atmosphere still feel like an escape. But we don’t want to just be a fun vacation, we want to challenge everyone involved to grow in some way at this festival. Whether you check out a new band and expand your music library or meet your future business partner. We want to encourage our patrons to test out new dance moves, get innovative with clothing, form new opinions, collaborate on some art and set themselves free from their previous perceptions of themselves. “Carpe Diem” is much easier said than done. Life gets busy and very heavy sometimes but we believe that together we can collectively melt each others’ worries and dance some shit out of our systems. Everyone faces hurdles in life but not everyone rises to the challenge of overcoming them. Come, join us in this adventure and set yourself free!

Bio: It all started in the summer of 2009 when singer and bassist Tyler Reddick decided to create a new project. He was previously a member of Dose Mojo, but after almost three years of creating psychedelic soundscapes, Reddick was then ready to incorporate new rhythmic diversity in the form of funk. ...See Full Bio

“All members of Soul Mechanic are extremely talented musicians. The type of musicians that are so comfortable with their instruments, that they’re simply feeling them and losing theirselves in the delivery. Soul Mechanic is funakfied goodness wrapped up into an almost Dave Matthews Band vibe delivering quirky rhythms, funky intricate bass lines, snappy drums, technical guitar riffs and smooth sax fills.”
