Sonja Kristina is perhaps best known as the lead singer of seventies progressive rock band Curved Air. With this band she achieved chart success, notably with the single 'Back Street Luv'. Curved Air  are currently re-united and are performing a limited number of re-union concerts in 2008/2009 (Curved Air Website). Sonja will also be performing later in 2008 with composer/cellist/producer in their multimedia show MASK.

Following Curved Air's demise in late 1976 Sonja toured with her own bands and also pursued an acting career via stage plays and TV.

In the eighties, she discovered a new hybrid of folk and psychedelic music and formed a new band called 'Sonja Kristina with Ty-Lor and Friends.' They played in a unique style that was sometimes totally acoustic and othertimes closer to space-rock. This fiery band thrilled audiences in venues around the UK and achieved much critical acclaim, not least rave reviews at the Glastonbury Festival. In 1991 Sonja recorded an album of material and a promotional single 'Anna' and 'Devil May Care'. This was followed by an 'acid-folk' reworking of the aforementioned Curved Air classic, 'Back Street Luv', and some other Curved Air songs including 'Melinda(More Or Less)'.

Sonja Kristina is an enigmatic, sensual and soulful performer, who surrounds herself with original and inspiring musicians and produces albums that are emotional statements about her life and times.Today she is concentrating her energies on the MASK project which is Sonja in inspired collaboration with acclaimed producer/composer Marvin Ayres. Having contributed to Sonja's album of Jazz and Torch Songs 'Cri de Coeur', Marvin invited Sonja to record and perform with him experimental voice and strings Soundscapes, As MASK they mix extemporisation with structured songs and beats, fusing elements of Ambient/Electronica, Trance and Classical music to breathtaking and original effect..

In 2008 Marvin and Sonja will be promoting MASK's second recording 'Technopia' with their atmospheric stage show.
