THE SONAR11 STORY UNTIL TODAY
The pop/rock formation Sonar11 was founded in April, 2004. In January 2005, the band met Yigal Roos of Fortress Music, resulting in their collaboration in March 2005. In the 2 months the recording and production of 12 songs took shape. Since than the band has strongly developed and fully concentrated on working on their live-shows end the writing of new song material.
In Mai 2005, Sonar11 wrote the song "Gone with the sun" for the Nuon Solar team of the University of Delft (NL). In September the solar team won with their solar car "Nuna3" (wish rides completely on solar-energy) the race in Australia against other solar cars from all over the globe. "Gone with the sun" was used in the solar car promotional campaign by Dutch TV-station SBS6.
Sonar11 released "Gone with the sun" in September 2005 as a promo single for the solar team, and as a prequel to the release of upcoming recordings. The song did quite well, was played by a number of local radio stations and the national radio station 3FM, and the video was on the Dutch MTV and TMF.
Because of the small success of the first single the band decided to record and release their next single in order to present the band in a more serious way. On the 17th of October the band recorded in association with producer George Konings and Simple Minds' sticksman Mel Gaynor two songs at the Dutch Wisseloord Studio's. This single contains two songs: Lovers' fall and City of angels. The single was presented to public and press during the band presentation at stage "P60" (Amstelveen, Holland) and is available in the Music Store and downloadable at legaldownload.nl.
The promotion of the single was quite successful. The single didn't make it into the hit charts, but the name and the quality of the sound of the band was established at the local and national radio stations. Reason enough to continue the promotion of the band by releasing singles!

In may 2007 Sonar11 recorded their latest single named “Waste lands”. The single contains two songs, Waste lands and We are one. The single was recorded in Soundvisionstudio in Arnhem and produced by George Konings, and for the second time in the history of the band Simple Minds' Mel Gaynor joined in to do the drums parts. The single will be released in April 2007.
