SKRIPT (THE BEGINNING)

Born May 4th 1979 in Richmond VA Jamil Jasey learned a lot about the arts. From tap dancing to playing the acoustic guitar to learning the alto sax, Jamil was always into the arts.  From childhood something about music and words inspired him.....

FAST FORWARD(PERFORMING...THE NERVOUS SENSATION)

Jamil started performing with a local and still Richmond's Own Spoken Word Variety Show Troupe LYRIC AVE in October 2003. His first taste at performing to an audience, Jamil continue to hone his craft. Lyric Ave led to other performances at TUESDAY VERSES and other venues around the city. A friend and fellow cast member NAZDAK  gave Jamil the name MAN U. SKRIPT and a new performer was born.

FROM MAN U. SKRIPT TO SKRIPT

Man U. Skript started his own show on the side of Lyric Ave called SOUL CAFE w/ JULIA McCAULEY & CARLENE "SPIRIT" ROBERTS. With a suggestion from friend JAMELA BULLOCK, Man U. Skript shortend his name to SKRIPT.  Skript eventually left Lyric Ave in June 2006 but continues to work with them on special projects. After two years Soul Cafe (now called SOL CAFE) ended it's run in September 2007. Skript left for Roanoke VA where he started ROANOKE SLAM. Skript left Roanoke in January 2008 and moved back to Richmond. Perofrming up and down the east as well as the Midwest Skript encountered many performers and made many contacts. Learning invaluable lessons from veterans in the spoken word scene Skript applied what he learned to his own performance.

FROM PERFORMER TO HOST

January 2008 also saw the beginning of The Vibe Radio show on www.blogtalkradio.com/thevibe. In March 2008 Skript along with VCU Student Hip Hop organization & 7th Cypha Music started a 1st Friday Event @ Tea Co 902 W. Broad St. Richmond VA. Skript became the host and the transition from performer to host began. Now happy in his position as radio show host as well as event host Skript is happy with his role as host and sometime performer now......Moving forward Skript is now the host of the POPULAR Thursday night open mic show...THURSDAY NITE LIVE!....@ SKYY LOUNGE (4 W. Broad St. Richmond VA every Thursday 7p-10p $5)

EDEN

Coming out in January '09 EDEN will be released all tracks produced and mixed by HYPHEN THE RIGHTEOUS CROOK & written by SKRIPT.. The album won't be watered down with guest appearances but....there will be a few people on the LP...JAMELA BULLOCK....SHAWN CHAPPELLE... and a few others so check out 4 of the 16 tracks on here...and more to be added soon..
