SIX VOLT / Press

“It is evident that these kids can really play as soon as their music starts. But one thing that sets them apart from other groups is that they do it for the love of music and their fans. Sure most artists would say the same thing but Six Volt really incorporates its fans into all aspects of its music. ”

“Currently Six Volt is headlining the "Youth Rock Live" tour, taking place at various malls throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Despite the hectic performance schedule, Six Volt found time to record and release on June 1 a self- titled, five-song EP. Another EP, "Teenage Anthem," is scheduled for release on Oct. 12. Most of group's music is sold digitally via iTunes, MySpace, Facebook and on www.sixvoltband.com. Check out Six Volt Wednesday, Aug. 11:"Rock to Prevent" benefit concert, Pier Village Mall in Long Branch, 7:30 p.m.. Visit www.sixvoltband.com for more information about events”

“As alternative performance spaces go, shopping malls don’t get much respect. But they’re actually ideal venues for young people who want to see pop music played live, and well, but aren’t yet permitted to go to bars or concert halls. The members of Red Bank-based power-pop band Six Volt aren’t old enough to drink, either (guitarist Granger Whitlaw Jr. is 14 years old), but their honed, highly professional sound is ready for commercial radio. Expect to hear “Mind on Me,” their catchy single, when the quintet takes the stage at the Shops at Riverside in Hackensack today. The teenage band’s busy schedule brings them to the Rockaway Townsquare, the Ocean County Mall and Jersey City’s Newport Centre Mall in August — and those are just the Jersey dates. Consider it a summer vacation well-spent for the members of Six Volt, and a good introduction to live music in a low-stakes setting for teens and pre-teens. visit sixvoltband.com”

“Six Volt will headline the entire tour, aptly titled “Youth Rock Live!” The shows will take place at various Simon Malls in the Tri-State area and has already lined up sponsors in Shuffleboard Records and The Youth Arts Forum, who will be the official presenters of the event. Paul Reed Smith Guitars, www.prsguitars.com has also joined the tour as a sponsor and Six Volt will be giving away (1) PRS SE model guitar to a lucky fan at each of their 22 Simon Mall shows. Granger Whitelaw, Jr. who is on the Artist roster at PRS plays a custom PRS McCarty made by Paul himself. “I will play this guitar until I am buried with it,” said Granger. “It is the Stradivarius of guitars and has tones only found in a PRS.” Paul Smith, Founder of PRS says, “I met Granger about 2 years ago and have seen him grow musically. We are honored to support him as a player and Six Volt.””

“The band’s chemistry and execution of power pop is hard to deny.”
