Dan & Letha Melchior Benefit Come to Beerland on Valentine's Day and help support a good cause! All the money goes to helping Dan & Letha Melchior. Dan Melchior is a musician whose wife Letha is currently struggling with cancer. Everyone who has had a family member with cancer knows how the bills can get exorbitant, so we can do our part to help them out while having fun at the same time. Here is some more info about the Melchior's situation: http://melchiorfund.blogspot.com/ Dan is considered by many to be one of the most exciting artists of the past decade. His prolific output of high quality records has garnered many fans all over the world. His wife, Letha, plays in Das Menace with him, and she also contributes much of the cover art to his albums. She is a visual artist who hails from New York City. Here is a link to find out more info about Dan Melchior: http://danmelchior.net/ Way more important than the actual event is the money being raised, so if you can't go to the event, but you want to do your part to help, Paypal donations are being accepted at http://melchiorfund.blogspot.com/ Here is the lineup (from first band playing to last band playing): 1st: David Israel: Come here the master soloist make us laugh, cry, and everything in between. http://davidisrael.bandcamp.com/ 2nd: Air Traffic Controllers: http://www.hairtarrifcuntrollers.tumblr.com/ 3rd: Boone Graham: Very well my favorite musician in Austin. He is the heir to Daniel Johnston's throne in my opinion. http://soundcloud.com/boonesboro 4th: Simple Circuit: Awesome tunes from awesome people. What more can you want? Recommended especially if you like Eddy Current Suppression Ring. http://simplecircuit.bandcamp.com/ 5th: The Zoltars: We have expanded into a 4-piece and the difference is quite large. So come hear us like you've never heard us before. I am very proud of the new sound! http://www.thezoltars.com/
Last year was a blast so we're doing it again! The Hex Dispensers and Simple Circuit will be playing! We'll have kegs but please bring Riot Juice, fancy beers or anything else you'd like to imbibe. The boat has grills so feel free to bring some food for grilling. Bring your swimsuits. The top deck has a slide as well as platforms to jump from. Noodles are onboard but br...ing any water-wings, hemorrhoid donuts or anything else you need to float and drink. This will be a first come first served event like last year. The boat, The Ark, has a capacity of 150. So after we sell 150 tickets that's it. Please get to the dock on time. The boat will depart promptly at 6pm. Please give yourself enough time to get out there so you can be at the dock by 5:30pm. The drive out there is a little long and the roads are windy so please consider carpooling and having a designated driver. Also, they charge $5 for parking so even more reason to carpool.
