SOME ALBUMS are hard to sum up in a single phrase or sentence. Others are just plain impossible. SikTh's US debut, "Death Of A Dead Day", released on 6-6-6 certainly falls into the latter category. Featuring new tracks such as 'Sanguine Seas Of Bigotry', 'Bland Street Bloom' & 'Way Beyond The Fond Old River' – "Death Of A Dead Day" is sure to appeal to those who see the world through different colored lenses. Expertly played, ambitiously conceived and produced to stir the senses, this is technical rock music about as far away from 'math metal' as it's possible to get. Simply put this is the most important Prog Metal release in a very, very long time. With massive UK and Japanese followings under their belt, SikTh has set their sites on the US.

FORMED IN March 2001, the last few years have seen the North London six-piece – vocalists Mikee W. Goodman & Justin Hill, bassist James Leach, drummer Dan Foord and guitarists Graham Pinney & Dan Weller – building an international reputation as a cutting-edge collective with a unique approach to their craft, both lyrically & musically.

It was in late 2001 that BBC Radio 1 first picked up on the band, offering them a live session at the legendary Maida Vale Studios in North West London; an unprecedented opportunity for an as-yet-unsigned act, and the response to the session was both immediate and positive, with Kerrang! magazine tipping them as one of the names for the future and a whole host of UK support slots coming their way – from Kittie to Mad Capsule Markets, American Head Charge to The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Mudvayne to Machine Head.

With the bit now firmly between their collective teeth, SikTh took the top prize at a UK industry showcase event ('In The City'), and released two critically-lauded EPs, 'Let The Transmitting Begin...' & 'How May I Help You?', the latter being the first fruit of a contract with the independent Gut label. The narrative title track of the EP was supported
by SikTh's first proper video – a fully animated affair which received considerable play on MTV, MTV2 & Kerrang! TV (both Big Cheese & Kerrang! magazines called it the 'best video of 2002').

Shortly after the sold-out 'How May I Help You? Tour 02', SikTh entered the studio to start work on their self-produced debut album, 'The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out...'; bringing together some of the material from the previous EPs plus a whole host of freshly written tracks (including one spoken word piece), the record was a genuine labor of love – mixed by Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Funeral For A Friend, etc.), and released in August 03 on the back of a second sell-out UK tour plus an appearance (in the company of Iron Maiden & Marilyn Manson) at the high-profile Download event at Castle Donington, UK.

Sounding like nothing else before or since, 'The Trees...' (issued via Unparalleled Carousel/Gut) picked up a whole host of great reviews in the UK, with the result that labels overseas soon started to show interest. Amidst a flurry of competition, JVC secured the Japanese rights to the record (early 04), leaving Mushroom to step up to the plate in Australia, and it wasn't long before SikTh were on a plane to Tokyo to start a mini-tour with Anthrax. In a country noted for its love of cartoons, it's perhaps not surprising that the 'How May I Help You?' clip was swiftly A-Listed by MTV Japan – the perfect platform for a return visit a few months later when the band joined the bill of Fuji Rock 04, the biggest outdoor festival in Asia. Within the space of three months, SikTh had sold as many records in Japan as they had at home, whilst over in Australia Triple J (one of the most popular FM radio stations) was regularly spinning their songs & interviewing the band.

Recently, SikTh have made their first ever visit to France (for the celebrated Fury Fest), and there's talk of further appearances in that country in March 06, perhaps even a headline tour. In the UK, meanwhile, a string of festival appearances are now in place for the remainder of 05, all of which are designed to pave the way for Album Two, which – quite simply – promises to be something very special indeed.

SikTh was signed by Bieler Bros. Records (home of Skindred, Nonpoint, Egypt Central, Burn Season and Ankla) for the World. " SikTh are simply the most forward thinking band on the planet....their skills as musicians and writers could well lead this band to legendary status in short order, as well as send a lot of current metal bands off in desperate search of a rehearsal studio", said label CEO Jason Bieler.

"Death Of A Dead Day" was released on 6/6/6 in the US and 6/26 in the UK
