“Lebo “Shugasmakx” Mothibe is a South African rapper, actor and entrepreneur best known as the co-founder and star of iconic local hip-hop brand Skwatta Kamp. Born in Soweto to David Mothibe and Gloria Mahlaba, Shugasmakx made his first television appearance at the age of 9 years. He made appearances in various ads and programmes from 1991 to 1997. Moving from Soweto in 1994 and making his way to the Leondale on the East Rand of Johannesburg, Shugasmakx found a new love in his life - hip-hop music - after meeting long time business partner and friend Siyabonga "Slikour" Metane.”

“Lebogang ‘Shugasmakx' Mothibe is one of the few South African MCs who has had to wait so long before releasing a solo album. A co-founder of iconic hip hop group Skwatta Kamp, the Soweto native has been rapping since the late 90s. While his peers in the hip hop world were busy releasing albums and making waves on air, he was secretly penning new rhymes, recruiting some of the industry's finest rappers and recording a street-tailored solo project simply titled Numbe1. An offering that elevated the rapper's industry ranking, Numbe1 quickly gained recognition in the first month of release last year, fueled by the success of its lead single "imisebenzi yakho".”
