Executive Producers Benjamin Golley of Today’s Beauty Supply and Jacob Henderson of Excellence Arts & Media Academy proudly presents a performance of The Meeting, by Jeff Stetson on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Jacoby Arts Center.
This fictional dramatization of two powerful leaders of the Civil Rights Era, will provide an experience representing the ideals and philosophies on social issues held by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. King’s nonviolent view and X’s “by any means necessary” method gives an angle to an encounter that gives each the opportunity to put the other in “the hot seat.”
Bringing these renowned men to life is Phillip Dixon as X and Ronnie Banks as King. Completing the cast is Kevin Bailey as Rashad and Elizabeth McCormick opens the show as Lena. This dramatic presentation is directed by Jeremy L. Granger and produced by the Visionary Team.
The evening will be hosted by actress and poet, Taleesha Caturah with music featuring the D'Fynitive Soul Band. Following the performance, there will be a Q-and-A session and a keynote address by Alton mayoral candidate, Brant Walker.
