CHICAGO TROUBADOUR MARK DVORAK IN CONCERT WITH SPECIAL GUEST AMY DIXON-KOLAR
The Stained Glass Coffeehouse will present folk singer-songwriter Mark Dvorak in concert on Saturday, January 12 at the Congregational Church in Deerfield, 225 Wilmot Road. The concert begins at 7:00 pm with an opening act. Suggested donation is $15.00. Special guest Amy Dixon-Kolar will open the show.
Dvorak, who was named "Chicago's Troubadour" by WFMT 98.7fm fine arts radio last year, has sustained a career of performing, recording and teaching that has spanned more than twenty-five years. He has performed in thirty-six states and several countries abroad with only his guitar, 5-string banjo and his songs.
His songwriting has been called "wondrous," and "profound." His performance "an elegant balancing act of the traditional, the original and the powerful." The Chicago Tribune calls him "masterful," while SING OUT! magazine says, "Dvorak shines!"
His 2011 Waterbug release, Time Ain't Got Nothin' On Me, received national airplay and rose to number 14 on the Cashbox Roots Music report.
"We had to make a last minute change in our concert schedule," said Stained Glass Coffeehouse director Rev. Blair Hull. "We're absolutely delighted Mark was able to join us on short notice. We're looking forward to a memorable evening."
Singer songwriter Amy Dixon-Kolar is a rising star on the Chicago acoustic scene. Her 2008 release Now It's Time, received critical acclaim for the writing and production. Her song Rosa Sat is considered one of the great songs remarking on Civil Rights in America.
