--Irish Session AND Michael Mullen Trio Of One Solo Show!--
at the Full Circle Brewing Co.
Session starts at 5, Show starts at 8
620 F St. Fresno, CA 93706
Enjoy Irish music the way it's always been meant to be played! Spectators can sit and listen to jigs and reels while they enjoy one of the Full Circle's seasonal brews or some root beer. The music is provided by a changing cast of musicians in an informal setting, but with Michael Mullen as the anchor that keeps the whole thing going in the right direction. If you play an instrument and know an Irish tune or two, go grab it and sit in!! Kids are welcome with an adult! And musicians who play a few tunes will only have to pay 1 dollar to get into the show that follows the session. Great deal, right?
NOTE: since this is the December session and I love Christmas music, I am going to ask musicians who attend to have some Christmas music that they can play, particularly the various traditional jigs or reels that involve Christmas in their title (to find some of those go to thesession dot org) but also including familiar melodies from all the traditions of Christmas.
SPECIAL NOTE: Though this session is primarily of an instrumental nature, sometimes singers will show up, and I may ask them to sing once in a while at this session. With that in mind, this is the Christmas session, so I will be definitely asking people that I know are singers who show up to sing Christmas songs.
SPECIAL SPECIAL NOTE: I have an inclusive, ecumenical view of Christmas. For me, it is a universal holiday that anyone can enjoy, the modern celebration of which includes cultural and religious elements from various places, not only Western European but also from as far afield as Persia, India, and North Africa. The spirit of Christmas is love, family, giving, conviviality, treat others as you would be treated, warmth, food, and festivity, and open to al people andl creeds. And nothing is as ecumenical as music. Come one come all...
