WISDOM OGBOR has gone through a remarkable musical journey. Africa was the beginning of that journey, traversing North America, to Mexico and Central America, infusing and nurturing the multi-cultural music that is Roots & Wisdom Music. Since its beginning in 1986, the music has attracted different musicians from Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, USA, Trinidad & Tobago, Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Holland and Germany whose influences have formed the Roots of Roots & Wisdom Music. Growing up in Nigeria, Wisdom absorbed lots of music and stories. He heard folk songs sung by his mother and father and lived the horrors of the civil war exploding in his country. Wisdom found freedom in music and at 16 he escaped to the United States with the music and stories from Nigeria rooted deep within him. In Austin, Texas, Wisdom started working with "Bikes Not Bombs" when he learned of the about the Chiapas crisis and traveled to the war torn state and found a deep kinship with the people there. Wisdom doesn't get paid for his work with Bikes Not Bombs and often uses his own money earned from playing his carefree reggae that is Roots & Wisdom Music. Wisdom has learned to streamline his life to focus on what is most important to him, helping others and building cultural awareness.
