Sue Sheriff and Louise Van Aarsen are proud to perform a uniquely inspiring collection of jazz originals and standards, and to welcome their musical director, acclaimed jazz singer and New England's First Lady of Jazz, Rebecca Parris to the stage as their guest.
These three jazz vocalists share a strong passion for moving and improving the world through music. Having all been touched by cancer in some way: loss of friends and family, survivorship, and even a professional career in cancer research, they decided to support the Portland Cancer Community Center with this very special benefit concert. All three singers are unique and together will present a dynamic show that will not only entertain you, but will give you the opportunity to give to a wonderful organization. www.cancercommunitycenter.org. This will be the first in a series of concerts all over New England.
Sue Sheriff, a jazz vocalist performing in the greater Portland and Boston areas, has entertained audiences young and old for over 30 years. Inspired by her second chance after surviving cancer, she decided to pursue her dream of singing jazz, and is doing just that!
Scientist/Singer/Songwriter Louise Van Aarsen (by day a cancer researcher at Dana Farber Cancer Institute) has recently celebrated the release of her impressive debut album, “Destiny”, at Scullers Jazz Club in Boston. Co-produced by Rebecca Parris, Louise’s original music is unique and memorable and will speak to you at many levels.
Rebecca Parris, New England’s Queen of Jazz, has performed all over the world with some of jazz's greatest legends, and has numerous recordings in her name, with her latest release "You Don't Know Me" on the Saying It With Jazz label. As a passionate and inspiring educator and vocal coach to many, she generously passes on her unmatched mastery of lyrical interpretation and connection with audiences.
Joining them on the stage are musicians: Pete Blue, Keyboards; Paul McWilliams, Keyboards; Tom Bucci, Bass; Jason St. Pierre, Alto Sax and Steve Grover, Drums.
