The 9/11 Freedom Rally will fill three days with celebration and commemoration on Sept. 7, 8 and 9 at the Arapahoe Park Race Track in Aurora.
The 2012 Rally will include a Kickoff Concert at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 with the American Hitmen, The Kory Brunson Band, and featuring The Lost Trailers. There will also be vendor and food areas.
On Saturday, Sept. 8 the morning starts with two exciting events to honor the fallen, support veterans and families of the fallen. The Travis Manion foundation presents Colorado's first 9/11 Heroes Run at the Aurora Reservoir at 8 a.m. and at 10:03 a.m.-the time United flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania on 9/11/01 - over 2000 motorcycles will begin the 2nd annual Colorado's Fallen Heroes Memorial Ride; an 80 mile ride to honor all Coloradans who have died in military or emergency service.
The Rally is also open to the public from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 8 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 9. The event includes our vendor marketplace, live music, a variety of entertainment including stunt motorcycle riders, and interactive zones for teenagers and young children. On Saturday there will be a Firefighter Appreciation Classic and Custom Car Show as well as custom and Tribute Motorcycle Show.
Throughout the event, 10,000 American flags will be on display. These represent all who died on Sept. 11, 2001 and those who have died since in military or emergency service. This year, the memorial display will also include 13 Colorado flags dedicated to the victims of the July 20, 2012 shooting in Aurora as well as a flag dedicated to the heroism and actions of Aurora's first responders on that day. The public may sponsor a flag in honor of a particular fallen hero. Flags will remain on display and open to the public through Sept. 11.
Parking is free and general admission is $10. Registration for individual events varies but also includes admission.
