Sat 21st of july upstairs at Enigma Bar. $10 Entry 18+
Arcadia is a metal/hardcore band from Adelaide, South Australia.
The name Arcadia means a ‘region of simplicity and untouched quiet, a sort of utopia’. The ideas and impossibilities of such a place are what spawned the music of the band.
The question Arcadia poses is 'how can such a place exist?' Their songs talk about many things that prevent this mythical world from existing. Topics like war, depression, substance abuse and confrontation form the meaning behind the bands music. Arcadia is a message that says ‘The world is not simple, and there’s no such thing as a perfect world’.
Arcadia’s musical style is a mash-up of aggressive hard rock riffs, soaring guitar solos and bone crushing hardcore breakdowns. With a mix of both dirty screaming and clean melodic vocals, Arcadia creates its distinct Metalcore sound, a sound that draws from all four band members broad musical tastes and influences.
Arcadia draws their inspiration from the stylings of Australian Hardcore legends Parkway Drive and I Killed The Prom Queen, American Metal champions Metallica, Killswitch Engage, All That Remains and Trivium and British powerhouse Iron Maiden. The band takes great pride in drawing inspiration from their heroes to produce music that instantly draws people in. They do this with their thick melodic riffs and catchy chorus melodies, splicing that together with brutal, inventive technical breakdowns that even catch people with heavier musical tastes off guard. The final product is a sound that is not only soulful and melodic, but crushing and honest.
Rising from the ashes of Melbourne’s dormant metal scene, Decimatus formed with one intention: to make the music they love that no one else is playing. In early 2010, mixing killer groove riffs with brutal fast pace drums, Decimatus did just that. All great bands have an undefinable ability to stand out in a crowd and Decimatus is one such band....
With a palatable brutality coupled with a strong focus on energising grooves; Decimatus are proving to be a band teetering on the edge of national, if not international acclaim.January 2012 saw the release of their debut EP “The Betrayer” at an almost sold out Corner Hotel where they sold 65 copies of the aforementioned CD. “The Betrayer” received many rave reviews; lending support to this band on the rise. However, the true strength of Decimatus is in their live performances.Their live sound and balls to the wall live show is a-kin to rolling thunder clouds and it arrives much the same way, with a commanding presence that demands your full attention.
Currently on their first Australian tour, Decimatus are gaining momentum with repeat shows being booked before they leave each venue.
In the middle of this tour, Decimatus released their second EP titled “2”. Consisting of two huge tracks, “2” is available for FREE at their live shows.
The current tour comes to a close in August then the boys are set to hit the studio and record their debut album which is due for completion by the end of 2012 showcasing new unreleased songs. All this and a lot more shows including more interstate shows coming your way.
Forming in late 2009, Alkira have begun to make a name for themselves as a young group of talented musicians with a brutal live show.
