A million dollars worth of autotune and plastic surgery can turn nearly anyone into a flash-in-the-pan icon. Fortunately, genuine talent cannot be bought at any price. Mosaic is bringing an evening of exceptionally talented young musicians to the stage on April 14. While there is no shortage of aspiring teenage musicians, Mosaic has gathered a few with poise and ability beyond their years. In the case of Headstrong and Leah Burkey, youth is not a novelty. On this special Mosaic Presents evening, the music will speak for itself.
Three brothers and a buddy (Kevin, Jaden, Riley and Spencer), hail from Lancaster, PA. Whether they are busking downtown on First Friday or impressing audiences and opening for country stars at state fairs from Virginia to Pennsylvania, Headstrong’s originals and covers leave a lasting impression. Arresting harmonies set their country and classic rock tinged songs apart, and have earned the boys a development deal with Nashville publishers Tom-Leis Music. A bright future awaits this gifted young band, and Mosaic is proud to be a part of it on April 14.
Mosaic was fortunate to snag an evening of Leah Burkey’s time between trips to Nashville where she has been travelling to write, record, and establish sturdy roots for a career as a singer/songwriter. Burkey’s striking performances, solo with her guitar or with a band, belie her 14 years. She is already writing songs with instinct and finesse that can’t be groomed or learned. Either you’ve got it or you don’t. Leah Burkey has got it.
The audience on April 14 will no doubt be blown away and taken aback by these artists’ beyond-their-years raw talent and pure expression.
