A Musical Memorial & Benefit for the Mendez and Sabina Families:
A.J. Mendez and Nick Sabina were the best of friends. Yet the Mendez and Sabina families will forever share an unfortunate history. On August 2011, Manchurian Irene Severely flooded both families' homes. The live along the Passaic River that exceeded its banks and delivered four feet of water into the first floor of their dwellings. The water took a week or more to subside. Mr. Sabina, a business owner, prior to having his home destroyed by Hurricane Irene, was diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. His son Nick made the brave decision to leave school and help his father with the family business. Tragedy proved relentless for both the Mendez and Sabina families. On October 2nd, 2011, friends A.J. Mendez, Nick Sabina, and Darian Robinson were walking home, using a short-cut across a Train Trestle, when an unscheduled train appeared. Unfortunately, A.J. and Nick were both struck and killed. To this date, Mr. Sabina continues to battle cancer. This benefit is an attempt to help offer these families some relief to rebuild their homes and hopefully...eventually... their lives.
