Ladysmith Black Mambazo World Music Icons Ladysmith Black Mambazo Celebrate 50 Years For more than 50 years, award-winning choral ensemble Ladysmith Black Mambazo has spread their native South African a cappella sound all over the globe. Assembled in the early 1960s by leader Joseph Shabalala, the group's signature soul-stirring harmonies catapulted them to platinum-selling status on their home turf. They went on to capture the world's attention with their appearances on Paul Simon's seminal 1985 album Graceland, with hits "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" and "You Can Call Me Al" becoming classics. They've racked up four Grammys, performed with everyone from Dolly Parton to Michael Jackson to the cast of Sesame Street and their career shows no signs of slowing down. You'll hear some of the group's musical milestones and maybe even tracks from 2013's Live: Singing For Peace Around The World, which won a Grammy Award for Best World Music Album.
