Regardless of the medium of expression, artists will always respond to someone in need. In truly predictable form, a member of our musical family is in trouble. Our percussionist, Ric Coon’s girlfriend (Mary Gohlke-Medlock), is now fighting a battle with cancer.
Approximately one year ago, Ric took Mary to an E/R because of severe stomach pain. At that time, doctors basically sent her home with some pain meds, telling her she was constipated and dehydrated. Now, one year later, they returned to the same E/R displaying the same symptoms. This time, physicians found a mass about the size of an orange that perforated her colon. Her doctors have given a pre-diagnosed of colorectal cancer. The critical nature regarding her condition cannot be understated. The mounting medical bills and lack of finance is due to not working indefinitely adds fuel to an out of control fire. And this is where you come in.
Darren Schmall has graciously offered the ApCal Winery stage to host a benefit focused to help out with this seen and unforeseen expenses Ric and Mary face in the near future. Hosted by Kris DeVold, Shockwave, the Marie Wilson Band, Foreigner Unauthorized and the Geoff Thurman Band will come together on May 18th beginning at 2:00 PM to provide music and story in a mission of love.
Tickets will be on sale for $15.00 at the ApCal Winery website (www.apcalwine.com) and at the door. Doors will open at 1:00 PM, with music beginning at 2:00 PM. The ApCal tradition of superior food trucks and luscious libations will also have offerings available for purchase. As always, the ApCal Winery is a 21-and-over venue ONLY. No outside drinks will be allowed on the premises. Please bring a lawn chair and get ready to get your dance on for a good cause.
