I am honoured that a recently composed song of mine has been selected as a Finalist in the Pan Celtic Irish National Song Contest for 2014.
The contest is to select a song to represent Ireland at the Pan Celtic International Song Contest 2014 alongside songs from other Celtic nations (Wales, Scotland, Brittany, Cornwall, The Isle of Man) - a kind of Celtic Language Eurovision :-) Some may remember that last year I was a finalist in this contest with my original party song in the Irish Gaelic language entitled "Havin' The Craic". I am delighted to be selected again this year from an even larger number of submissions with a new song of a completely different ilk - a gentle sweet lullaby entitled "Suantraí Donnacha" which means "Donnacha's Lullaby". Donnacha is a Gaelic name which means "brave warrior" and the song is dedicated to a very young smiling Irish boy who brings laughter wherever he goes!
I will be singing in the Final in Carlow on Saturday 8th March 2014 and although I know many will not be able to be there on the night maybe ye'll wish me luck (?) anyway. If anyone would like to hear the song ye can listen to the Irish Gaelic version entitled "Suantraí Donnacha" at www.reverbnation.com/paularyan/song/20155953 A version in English entitled "Donnacha's Lullaby" can be heard at www.reverbnation.com/paularyan/song/20155913
I just hope I can do justice to the song on the night!
