You never heard the blues like this—a powerhouse of feisty, enthralling vocals and big brass sound.
Delivering a blend of funky blues, humorously impudent lyrics, big brassy horns, soulful singing, and a naughty, tongue-in-cheek rapport with her audience, Paula Harris redefines what the blues can be. With a dynamic voice and with her feisty stage presence, she’s an entertainer who will surprise and delight with her hybrid of blues, funk, soul, and jazz originals.
Lou Rawls said of Harris, “Paula, you’re a vanilla coating with a chocolate soul!”
Her all-star seven-piece band, the Beasts of Blues and Big Ass Brass, consisting of piano, bass, drums, guitar, sax, trumpet, and trombone, has members who have worked with Santana, Taj Majal, Van Morrison, Sly & The Family Stone, Little Richard, Percy Sledge, and James Brown, among many others. They won top 3 bragging rights in the 2012 International Blues Challenge, The largest Battle of the Bands in the world and their debut album was nominated for a 2013 Blues Music Award in the Best New Artist category. They also received nominations for the 2013 Blues Blast Music Awards Best New Artist and the Sean Costello Rising Star award. Elwood Blues AKA Dan Ackroyd featured them on his Internationally Syndicated Radio Show " THe Blues Mobile" as a bluesbreaker and Favorite New Artist release.
Prepare yourself for a new kind of blues—Paula Harris is breaking the mold.
