"Forget the center hallway! Forget the bathtub! Head for your cellar/basement/storm shelter...you cannot survive this if you're not below ground!"
That's just one of the many warnings a meteorologist in Oklahoma City gave on May 20th, 2013 as he analyzed a tornado live on the air. The tornado turned out to be a violent EF5 and leveled the town of Moore. The damage has been likened to Hiroshima. 24 people died. Hundreds of others lost everything.
The people of Moore need help.
Join us WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19th as we come together at FITZGERALD'S BAR to help our neighbors to the north. The event is called HEARTS & STARS FOR MOORE: “hearts” because my heart is calling me to Oklahoma to help; “stars” because these twinkling orbs in the heavens are symbols of hope. That’s what the people of Moore need right now, more than anything else:
The evening will be filled with all kinds of delicious entertainment, including performances by NAT'L PARKS, OUR SLEEPING GIANT, WOLVERTON, RICHARD THURMOND, AT WAR WITH DUST, and ROYAL PUNISHER; there'll be “Hearts & Stars” drink specials, and we’ll have some other fun stuff going on (art, photos, and video) as part of the Hearts & Stars project.
For EVENT DETAILS, INFO ON THE BANDS, AND LINEUP, please visit www.heartsandstarsformoore.org
Anyone wishing to donate supplies, please ONLY bring items listed below. Wal-Mart gift cards are very helpful, and we’ll be accepting monetary donations as well.
For MORE DETAILS about how we're getting the SUPPLIES to Moore, visit www.heartsandstarsformoore.org
If you can't make it to out, stop by our DONATION STATION at STARBUCK’S ALAMO HEIGHTS (5321 Broadway).
Let’s show the people of Moore how big our hearts are. Let’s give them hope. Bring yourself, bring a group of friends, and spread the word: HEARTS & STARS FOR MOORE on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19th @ FITZGERALD'S. We look forward to seeing you there!
Lots of love,
