John Morris Russell and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra present “Music of Motown,” a program packed with the tunes from Motown’s heyday. Capathia Jenkins, a triple-threat of Broadway, film and television, recently wowed critics and audiences in her Pops debut during November’s “Bond & Beyond” concert at Music Hall. The same smooth vocals that stole the show with Bond balladry are sure to add plenty of flavor to the best of Motown. Award winning Broadway singer and actor, Darius de Haas, last seen with the Pops singing duets with Vanessa Williams is renowned for his exciting range and dynamic stage presence as well as his interpretations from everything from Stevie Wonder to Duke Ellington. This program features favorites such as Aretha Franklin’s legendary hit “Respect,” Diana Ross’ “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” The Temptations’ “My Girl,” as well as hits from the 1960s such as Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” and Sam Cooke’s “Cupid.” Also included are songs inspired by Motown and the 1960s such as “And I Am Telling You” from Dreamgirls, “Home” from The Wiz and Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive
