The Red White and Freedom Festival is a celebration of the July 4th holiday and also the many wonderful military men and women that have served and are currently serving our country. This years festival aims to honor these military men and women for their loyalty, bravery, and honor. The festival will also literally have something for everyone as the Downtown merchants move to the streets so you can sidewalk shop and join with other street vendors for the many events that are planned. Downtown Gastonia will
be THE place to be on July 4th! The 2012 festival was named as "the festival to attend" by a leading Southeast newspaper and crowds for the 1st time event topped 15,000. The 2013 festival will be even bigger and better and you don't want to miss it!
The music stage will be at the center of the festival at the Rotary Pavillion and there are
sounds to please a wide variety of taste of listeners. Local talent will be featured.
Speaking of tastes, don't miss all of the great food including the the Hot Dog Eating Contest,
Watermelon Eating Contest, and the Pie Eating Contest. Many Downtown restaurants will be
open to enjoy lunch or dinner. We also have the Firecracker Bake Off being held in the Gastonia

funnel cakes, cotton candy, and just about everything else!
With plenty of carnival rides for every age there will be something to do for everyone in
the family. Don't miss the special kids area and your family can even bring their own picnic to
enjoy in our picnic area.
The festival will begin with a special Military Ceremony at the Rotary Pavilion beginning at
11:00 am. There will also be a special Military Display for you to experience. Our history
museum this year will not only feature Downtown Gastonia but also Gaston County Military Heritage. The History Museum will be
a must see during the day.
