Located on the rugged coastline of Västerbotten Cape Bjuröklubb juts out into the Gulf of Bothnia. The present Lighthouse was built in 1859.
The cape was a center for fishing, merchant shipping ans seal hunting up until the nineteen hundreds. Based on archaeological findings the area is thought to have had three peaks in terms of human activities - primarily hunting and fishing...During the great migration of the 5th century, the Viking era and during the 15 hundreds.
A Russian fleet anchored here at Bjuröklubb during the Swedish Russian war in the early 18th century. Various remains of simple foundations and ovens bear witness of that Russian presence as well as earlier human activities.
