The Saginaw on Stage Annual Musical Festival has been one of the Rotary Club of Saginaw's most important fundraising events. Over the years since the festival's inception in 2003 it has allowed us to support many Saginaw community projects.
The festival was the brainchild of a Saginaw Rotarian who is himself a professional musician, as an opportunity to showcase Saginaw's tremendous and diverse musical talent.
The first year's event at the Temple Theatre in downtown Saginaw was a smashing success, but the festival quickly outgrew the limitations of a single-stage theater venue. We eventually found the five stages at the Apple Mountain Resort and Conference Center in Freeland allowed us to schedule far more musical artists.
The early spring festival now provides exposure for 30 or more bands/artists of nearly every genre playing on five stages in one night.
As an ongoing service to the musicians who donate their performances, the Rotary Club of Saginaw maintains a 24/7/365 telephone hotline for their use, where the musical artists can maintain up-to-date performance schedule information, if they so choose.
As an additional service to the musicians, beginning in 2011 the SoS Festival website has begun to maintain archives of musical artists' band or bio information, as well as contact information. We also have a cumulative list of all the artists who have participated since 2011, and whatever most recent contact information they have provided to the webmaster. We are in the process of reconstructing archives and contact listings to retroactively include artists from before 2011.
