“Spring has sprung — officially Wednesday — but with no warm-up, the weather is still off the mark. Dodge those chilly temps with a hot shot of hard rock from Shotgun Saints Friday at Terry’s Tavern in Lancaster. Right on target, this Rock Hill-area band features Danny Fire, bass/ backing vocals; Dave ‘DZ’ Mauldwin, lead guitar/backup vocals; Eddie Thompson, guitar/keyboards; Brad Tutterow, drums/percussion/vocals and Sandra D, lead and backing vocals. Their sound aims straight at the classic rock territory of Aerosmith, The Beatles, Bad Company, The Rolling Stones and ZZ Top with deadeye accuracy. Such musical precision also means picking tunes to cover from these bands’ ‘deep tracks’ — those tunes heard less often but are just as dynamic as the familiar favorites. “We pick songs that people know and like from Foreigner, Heart, Lynyrd Skynyrd and others,” said Mauldwin, “but we also throw in songs that they will recognize but may have forgotten since they’”

“ Take aim at hard and heavy classic-influenced rock Saturday with Shotgun Saints live at The Grid Iron in Charlotte. Led by guitarist Dave Mauldwin, known for his long tenure and a variety of popular area rock bands, Shotgun Saints are, in some ways, a bit of a departure for Mauldwin. Their rock/hard rock allegiance remains true but have revamped style and personnel from recent projects. “After a year of personnel changes, bassist Dan Fuoco and I feel like we've got the right chemistry as well as musicians now,” said Mauldwin. “With the changes it's forced me into the front man or lead singer role in addition to playing lead and rhythm guitar, which is something I've not had to do in many years.” That combo adds what he terms another level continuity to the band’s sound which is also heightened by a few other additions/changes to the band.”
