I am a little late getting to this excellent new album from Kelowna's own Sherman "Tank" Doucette.His first new album in four years finds the harp hall of famer asserting himself as the master of his domain.
In the past Doucette's albums have been a little to dramatic; sharing to much limelight with his combo. But on Blowin' Through Town Doucette has written all thirteen songs and makes a strong upfront presence with his earthy,well traveled voice.
This is a no bones about it party album where Doucette gets some great help from local guitar ace Rick "Poppa dawg" Halisheff who lays down some blistering guitar solos. My favourite is the Chuck Berry - influenced Cotton to Chicago while Doucette draws hevily on his blues palete with some funk on Dig A Little Deeper and some blues boogie on Bb boogie.Love the cool Yule bonus track Blues for Christmas too.
