Talk to any of the millions of people who have played Guitar Hero, and you're likely talking to someone who has heard Shaimus, the Los Angeles-based alternative rock band whose song "All Of This" was featured in the first installment of the smash hit video game franchise. Using the success of the game and a West Coast tour as a springboard, Shaimus has generated over 20,000 iTunes Music Store downloads in addition to the physical sales of their album, Paper Sun, without the help of a record label.
After being a featured artist on San Diego radio station Sophie 103.7's "Unsigned Sundays," Shaimus has graced the airwaves of mainstream and XM radio, plus college stations across the country have put their music into regular rotation. In addition to licensing their music to MTV Networks, the band tapped into the TV market when their song "Slow Down" appeared on Bill’s Food, a popular cooking show broadcast in 22 countries. Now, with a barrage of high-energy new songs that have become increasingly popular at their signature live shows, Shaimus is hard at work recording the anticipated follow-up to their debut (not to mention a music video for “Turn the Other Way,” a cathartic song decrying the drudgery of working a 9-5 office job).
The five members of Shaimus met at Berklee College of Music in Boston where they recorded Paper Sun, a 10 song album produced by band members Johannes Raassina (bass) and Phil Beaudreau (lead vocals/keys) that showcased their tight songwriting and skilled but tasteful musicianship. They headed to Southern California where the CD was mastered by 2-time Grammy winner Gavin Lurssen and immediately released to satisfy the demand that arose from being in Guitar Hero.
After concluding a 7 month bi-weekly residency at L.A.'s Club Good Hurt, Shaimus began work on the new album that continues to evolve their sound. The demos have attracted interest from several labels and further fueled the buzz surrounding a band with one humble and modest goal: total world domination.
