About
Set In Stone formed in August 2004 in which Charlie Shelton (guitar) and Matthew Whittley (drums) were introduced by a mutual friend. Charlie and Matt started playing music together at a local rehearsal room, not really thinking, they played what came naturally. This sound was raw, melodic and groovy as well as being heavy. As things progressed between them they decided to actively seek a bass player. It wasn't long before Jez Taylor was introduced to them, they all clicked instantly and this formed the basis of the band as we know them today
The 3 members continued to develop their distinctively raw, groovy sound whilst searching for a suitable vocalist. Vocalists came and went until April 2007, which saw the joining of Steve Faulkner and a mere 4 months later the 'Understrung' EP was recorded. The band have since embarked on a wave of shows, taking their music all over the midlands. 2008 looks like being a huge year for Set In Stone with more studio time booked and a continuing campaign of taking the music to the people. The future looks bright, the future is Set In Stone.
"We are a diverse, experimental, groovy, heavy band with an unquestionable passion for music. We don't follow perceived trends or thrive on 'popularity', we just love to play.. It's good to hear what an idea sounds like. Although we all have similar tastes in music and attitude towards things, we are all very different from each other, creating a melodic and groovy sound along with a darker side of searing riffs, chugging basslines and pounding drums."
