About
Dwain is of Yammagi, Western Australia the original home of his Grandfather. Of proud fourth generation 'mixed-blood' Aboriginality and a highly regarded professional Yadaki (Didgeridoo) player, Dwain honours his ancestors & spirituality through this medium. As a full-time musician Dwain plays at the award winning Sounds of Silence dinner at Uluru each night. It is with honour that Dwain plays in Central Australia, home to the Pitjantatjara and Yankuntjatjara Anangu (Anangu meaning people in English). It is noted that the Didgeridoo is not traditionally played in this ancient cultural region of Australia. Therefore, recognition is sincerely extended to the traditional owners for granting permission for Dwain to play for the millions of people that visit this remote and beautiful region of Australia. Throughout his ten year career Dwain has played to over a million people at various venues & functions throughout Australia, USA, and Europe. In July 2009, Serpent Sounds toured the USA and played at many venues including the famous Viper Room in LA. Throughout his career, Dwain has played the didgeredoo for various international identities including the Royal Highness' the Prince & Princess of Denmark, the President of Finland, the Israeli Ambassador, the High Commissioner for the Northern Territory and the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Committee to name but a few. Television appearances include; Getaway, 60 Minutes, Today Tonight and the American NBC Today Show. Dwain works in conjunction with STIX, the acclaimed contemporary Didgeridoo company. STIX are one of the very few companies still using traditional crafting methods for the production of the ancient instrument. It is this traditional craftsmanship that produces the sound which is truly representative of the spirit and music of the Aboriginal culture.
