About
SelfEsteem BoatWillie has been rockin’ the Eugene nightlife since the summer of ‘05 as a member of controversial yet relatively unknown underground hip hop group The AntiDope accompanied by Billy D, Unkle Nancy, and for a short time, DJ Turntable Enabler (of Eleven Eyes). Gracing the stage of any bar or music venue that would have them. SelfEsteem BoatWillie took a deep rooted passion for political ramblings and ran with the always growing Eugene hip hop scene. The AntiDope represented all that was said to be defeated in music and in life defending the beaten down and unnoticed apathetic youth. SelfEsteem BoatWillie along with the other members found with their unique sound and rough under the edges lyrics their demise was eminent. Once again three boisterous front man is far too much for one stage. The AntiDope split and all went separate ways. The AntiDope released two records “Attack of the Wak” and “Dirty White and Dumb” both of which are out of print.
Though he often feels like an outcast SelfEsteem BoatWillie has continued his drive to pursue a passionate reflection of the struggle living day to day as the common modern man. With lyrics driven by apathetic frustration SelfEsteem BoatWillie’s songs can be troublesome yet heartfelt, reflective, and fair.
His solo debut album “Patrick Makes Perfect” symbolizes his growth, not only a recording artist, but as a producer, and a human being. His track “Eye for an Eye” was featured on the trailer for a short film titled "Depraved" (view) by Hank Weintraub. He and Weintraub also put together a music video for “Eye for an Eye" (view) featured on the DVD of "Depraved" available on 531Productions.com. He has collaborated with local talents such as Roger McConnell, Jeff Jacobs (of the Vida Girls), 3 blind mics, the Reward System, Parallel Minds, Lomo, and others. His debut album “Patrick Makes Perfect” is available now. (Buy NOw)
SelfEsteem BoatWillie's follow up album titled "Big Brother" address a deeper issue and presents a reflection of himself stuck in his surroundings. Sounding more than uncomprehendable or even always absolutely audible but focused on a notion we could respect the other side of the ocean and start to resemble a positive distinction and work together to avoid extinction. I'm thinkin'! And I hear that it is almost here. As in September some time or later. Keep an Eye out for Big Brother.
