Scourge / Press

“The Boston metal trio Scourge jumps in the blender on its new 8-song album, "Clarity." And while the band uses prog, thrash, and death-metal influences across the album, it also manages to stay relentlessly grim, so there's never a feeling that Scourge is bouncing around or unfocused.”

“It all begins with a melodic, slow-jam riff intro that leads into the knife-hit assault “I Will Burn,” which the Boston metal trio had released as a single. Here, the two contrasting vocal styles that Jeremy Pastrick and Jon Huntley duel off with are introduced. First, the barreling macho-man whose neck veins are about to burst, and then the banshee-meets-reptilian shriek. The tempo changes back and forth and makes way for entrancing guitar parts. Likewise, “To The Gallows” has some complex, technical parts, showing off two sweet solos and a continuously impressive and changing wave of drums by Nate MacMillen”

“Scourge, compare these guys to whoever you want, but they are definitely their own hellish breed. Heavy metal headphone breaking music, turn it up and let it loose. If you like hardcore or you’re a man then check out Scourge asap.”
