About

Sounds Like: Darrell Scott, Ray Lamontagne, Otis Redding, Van Morrison (Official), Tom Waits

Bio: Scott McMahan blurs the lines between Soul & Folk, Country & Rock. Honest and direct - he sings of longing, loss, and the hope of redemption. His warm, gritty baritone is at times weary and emotion-laced, bringing to mind artists like Otis Redding and Van Morrison.

https://www.facebook.com/behindthebarnlive http://www.reverbnation.com/charlieoxford Charlie Oxford grew up in Dallas listening to his local oldies station with his father, where Sam Cooke was on rotation. Charlie grew very fond of Cooke’s soulful vocals and personal writing style. As time passed, his musical taste expanded toward rock artists such as: Hendrix, Clapton, Stevie Ray, and the Rolling Stones. Charlie’s father bought him his first guitar for his 12th birthday, and sent him to guitar lessons. From then on he learned the ins and outs of the guitar, and found a groove in soulful pop music. Charlie entered high school and began listening to artists such as Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Ben Harper and Jason Mraz. Their records never left his CD player, and he cites Mayer’s “Room For Squares” as his favorite album from that era. After graduating high school, he pursued a career in music and attended Loyola University New Orleans. Charlie received his B.A. in Music Industry Studies in 2007. New Orleans opened Charlie’s eyes to several local, brilliant musicians, while playing regularly at Carrolton Station and The Howlin’ Wolf. Soon after graduation, Charlie independently released his first album, “Conscious From Center.” He moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, and signed a record deal with an independent label and management firm called Fredag Entertainment. For a year Charlie lived in Edinburgh and toured the U.K. Charlie’s tour of the U.K. ended in 2009, and he decided to move to the Music City. Charlie now calls Nashville home and has found it to be a great experience to be a part of a community of artists. Over the past two years, Charlie has been invited to play in the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans, on the BMI Songwriter Stage. Oxford is currently working on writing new songs for a future project.

I'll be playing a solo opening set starting around 9:00. Super excited to be supporting Michelle Malone. If you haven't heard her yet, check out what the people who know have to say about her. PRESS QUOTES Malone is “the kind of singer and songwriter who can jolt things into overdrive” (New York Times). “raucous and jubilant – somewhere between Lucinda Williams and Shelby Lynne comes Malone alternating between soulful ballads and rowdy, riffy blasters.” (Rolling Stone) “4 out of 5 Bunnies “… on this loose and blues-stoked new album, Malone churns up those Southern roots with the vigor of Lucinda Williams while embracing her inner Keith Richards.” – (Playboy) “A proper American cocktail that’s best drunk straight up.” (BILLBOARD) “Whether moanin’ at midnight and howlin’ at the delta moon, or serving up a steamy blend of Tom Pettyesque twang-pop and Creedence Clearwater choogle, Malone’s the sexiest, most swaggering-est gal rocker on the whole damn planet right now. ” (Blurt Magazine) http://www.michellemalone.com/
